CinéMonde #2 : Capernaum by Nadine Labaki (VOSTFR)
A twelve-year-old boy, imprisoned for a knife assault, decides to sue his parents for “bringing him into the world”!
This unlikely accusation gives Lebanese filmmaker Nadine Labaki the opportunity to depict the journey of a child growing up in a poor neighborhood of Beirut, forced to fend for himself amidst the exploitation and violence of the adults around him.
Capernaum tells the incredible story of this child’s struggle for identity and his rebellion against the life imposed upon him.
