CinéMonde #2 : Capernaum by Nadine Labaki (VOSTFR)

A twelve-year-old boy, impri­so­ned for a knife assault, decides to sue his parents for “brin­ging him into the world”!
This unli­ke­ly accu­sa­tion gives Leba­nese film­ma­ker Nadine Laba­ki the oppor­tu­ni­ty to depict the jour­ney of a child gro­wing up in a poor neigh­bo­rhood of Bei­rut, for­ced to fend for him­self amid­st the exploi­ta­tion and vio­lence of the adults around him.
Caper­naum tells the incre­dible sto­ry of this child’s struggle for iden­ti­ty and his rebel­lion against the life impo­sed upon him.
