Resistance : How to Organize in the Face of the Criminalization of Solidarity ? (in French)

Like other European countries before it, Belgium and the Arizona government are multiplying measures that seriously undermine the right to asylum and criminalize solidarity : home visits, restrictions on material aid, conditional access to social support, increased controls, and stigmatizing, dehumanizing rhetoric.

As in France, “immigration” laws have been piling up for years, further tightening access to rights and attempting to criminalize those who welcome others.
The European Pact on Migration and Asylum confirms a policy of rejection, selection, and pushbacks at the borders — in defiance of international conventions and human dignity.

In the face of these intolerable policies, women and men are choosing another path : that of resistance, hospitality, and solidarity.

How can we respond to the criminalization of hospitality ?
How can we strengthen networks of solidarity ?
Can international conventions still be upheld in the face of rejection policies ?
What links can we build between local struggles and transnational mobilizations ?

Come and join the discussion with Cédric Herrou, a figure from the Roya Valley and a symbol of civic resistance in France against the criminalization of hospitality ; Mehdi Kassou, co-founder and executive director of BelRefugees, the Citizen Platform for Refugee Support born in 2015 at the infamous Maximilien Park ; and Father Daniel Alliët, pastor of the Church of the Béguinage (House of Compassion), well known for his ongoing commitment to undocumented people.

An event to understand, share, and debate ongoing forms of resistance — here and elsewhere !
